Al-Miʿmār al-Naḥwī Lessons in Arabic Grammar and Its Applications is a scholarly and instructional work in Arabic grammar. It was originally developed from a series of lectures delivered to undergraduate students enrolled in Applied Grammar courses at Al Qasimia University. The book is built upon a coherent vision, clear objectives, a well defined methodology, and carefully designed practical applications. The vision of the book affirms that Arabic grammar is a grammar of living usage that regulates speech whenever it departs from correctness. Accordingly, grammatical topics are selected according to actual communicative need, with deliberate avoidance of polemical disputes and theoretical controversy. The objective of the book is to guide learners toward adopting precise grammatical definitions and rules, while drawing attention to the relationships among the elements required for accurate linguistic expression. Through this approach, students are enabled to discipline both writing and speech in accordance with established Arabic linguistic norms. The methodology emphasizes accuracy in presenting grammatical terminology and definitions, linking them consistently to familiar, correct, and eloquent examples, without engaging in speculative or controversial parsing. The application component consists of balanced exercises appropriate to each grammatical topic. These begin with textual analysis and extend to varied questions, drawing on classical and modern Arabic language, literature, poetry, and prose. All examples and texts were carefully selected to reflect positive, moderate, and constructive values, making the book suitable for fostering the intellectual and ethical development of the contemporary learner.
