Abstract

This book presents a systematic and academic exploration of logic as a foundational formal science essential for all seekers of knowledge. It views logic as a discipline that regulates thought and prevents error, just as grammar organizes language. The author underscores its necessity for students of Islamic sciences, as it provides reliable methods of reasoning, strengthens the rational basis of doctrines and legal rulings, and helps counter misconceptions. Approaching the subject from a scholarly and practical perspective, the author demonstrates that logic is not merely theoretical but an applied tool for interpreting religious texts and exercising sound judgment. The content is presented with clarity and organization, designed to make logical principles comprehensible for beginners in Islamic studies. The exposition is enriched with examples drawn from Islamic intellectual heritage, supported by diagrams and tables that enhance understanding and retention.  The book comprises three main sections: the first outlines the origins and evolution of logic from Greek philosophy to its refinement in the Islamic tradition; the second discusses conceptual issues such as types of knowledge, meaning, terminology, the five universals, and definitions; and the third examines propositions and reasoning methods, both direct and indirect. Each section concludes with exercises and applications from Islamic sciences, encouraging active engagement with the material.  Ultimately, the book functions as a bridge between logical methodology and Islamic scholarship, merging analytical precision with spiritual and intellectual depth, and contributing to the cultivation of disciplined, coherent, and purposeful thought.
